You're right.

I forgot that VirtualBox (4.0.xxx) already been installed from the rpm 
that comes with the SuSE 11.4 distribution, when installing the latest 
version (4.1.18) downloaded from https://www.virtualbox.org.

Uninstalling all versions and re-installing only 4.1.18 solved the problem.
