You appear to be saying that these options are not being taken by the adapter.
My previous experience of Gentoo is that it can have some particularly complex configurations, ebuilds in portage are developed by a wide range of people and the QA that goes into their development process prior to inclusion into portage may create situations which could cause difficulties with a wide variety of other packages.
Can you provide information into the vboxnet configuration within the GUI? Are you running VirtualBox as root, or another user?
