I found, even with guest additions running, my Centos 5 x86_64 guest does not
keep time with the host.
But my Centos 6 x86_64 guest works perfectly fine.

To fix the Centos 5 guest, I needed to add "divider=10" to the kernel lines in
grub.conf

I stumbled upon this fix on the internet, and at first it made me uncomfortable
because of the imprecise nature. Why 10? Why not 9, or 11? Who came up with
that? Why should it work? I found no answers. It seems, if the guest kernel
tick counter is sufficiently too fast, then the guest virtualbox additions
simply can't correct it as fast as it goes wrong. So by using this arbitrary
divider, it slows down the kernel tick counter to the point where the guest
additions can become the dominating force instead.

Hope it works for you. Good luck.
