But while doing so, I checked something else. That recommendation for the MT said there was "more tuning options" - so I installed a couple more packages. Starting with ethtool & mii-diag. It looks like my virtual NIC is thinking it should be 100BaseTx - not 1000BaseTx. Which I don't understand. I've tried forcing it to 1000BaseTx using ethtool - but I'm still not seeing the same ping times from this Linux guest that I am from a Windows guest.
