Not really, although you can try to play with video mode parameters for
the kernel in the bootstrap (grub, usually).

The better and common solution is to run a terminal program (e.g. PuTTY)
in Windows and connect that to the guest with ssh. Make sure the guest
has sshd configured and running. 

A few advantages :
* resizable terminal window
* many more fonts to choose from
* easy to configure
* cut and paste between PuTTY and other windows programs

In theory you could use telnet, but it is insecure and lacks all the
nice feautures of ssh.
