Hi Damian,

Let me explain: you were asking if Virtualbox mapped audio inputs to the
guest VMs, The answer is I don't know. BUT I suggested you use an external
USB "sound card" that features both Audio output AND input, and you can map
that USB device exclusive to the VM guest, and install drivers on the VM
(if needed) and use that.

There are both USB external audio cards for $15

and also USB Microphones (useful for dictation, which are mapped as an USB
Audio Input device), some feature noise cancelling...

Going back to your question.... here's a user's post about using Voice
dictation in a Virtualbox VM... so I guess it can be made to work even with
the default audio input...
