More details: I have re-formatted the pen-drive on a Windows box, and it now
runs no problem (read and write) in the Linux host system, on SWMBO's Windows
Vista laptop, on a PCLinuxOS guest and a Windows WP 32 run on the Debian host.
But under a Windows 7 guest things go wrong: Sometimes the drive will mount,
can be navigated, but trying to execute an .exe file gets an error message:"The
path to the program does not exist" (my translation from the Spanish); trying
to copy a file to the pen-drive causes the guest to crash; other times, on
connecting the pen-drive, a window opens to say the drive must be formatted;
and when I click to format, the guest crashes.
Cheers,
Ron.

which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible
to pick up a turd by the clean end.
