Exporting is a bad idea and not the recommended way because: - it will reset the VM UUID (including the reported motherboard UUID) and the disks UUID, potentially breaking boot on Linux and requiring activation on Windows - Disks which were in VDI format will be transformed into VMDK, which is not the VirtualBox native format, with all its pitfall - MAC addresses on NIC will by reset by default, making their names in the guest OS change usually
