My Setup: HOST: HP xw8600 2x xeon 3.3GHz 32 GB ram Guest: Debian (attempting install using 32bit installation media)
Seems after upgrading from earlier VB to 5.0.14 when trying to create a new debian guest I hit the VT-x error. The problem seems to have begun when the version numbers jumped from 4.x.x to 5.x.x. Since I hit this problem at 5.0.2 also. The debian iso I am attempting to install from says its 32 bit on the debian download pages. I don't understand why I'm getting that error. I have 2 existing linux vms that start and run fine. These were created several versions ago. The VT-x errors only began somewhere in the last few versions (I think) so something is now causing this to error out when a few versions back there was no such problem. I see no mention of anything regarding VT-x in my bios. I think I'm at the most recent version on the bios. The HOST is fully 64 bit so It must not be something that is really required in order to run 64bit else I would not have been able to install the HOST OS. Is there some kind of work around for this? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Site24x7 APM Insight: Get Deep Visibility into Application Performance APM + Mobile APM + RUM: Monitor 3 App instances at just $35/Month Monitor end-to-end web transactions and take corrective actions now Troubleshoot faster and improve end-user experience.
