Your error message pretty much says it all. I run VirtualBox on Solaris, and it works great for probably 90% of the stuff I need to do.
One of those, is that I would like to run Cisco VIRL in a VirtualBox VM, but I am at the same point as you are, i.e. VirtualBox does not support nested virtualization. Assuming that you are on a Mac, your options are to choose another virtualization product. I would suggest VMWare Fusion or the Parallels product for the desktop. ESXi is also an option.
