Message-ID: <v1l92exm4k....@news.ducksburg.com>
Hi, Is there any way to create a VirtualBox image from Windows installed on a laptop without physically removing the hard drive? Ideally, it would be something like booting a live CD and putting the image file on a USB stick or drive. Thanks, Adam Hi Adam, You don't have to remove your hard disk. You install VirtualBox in your base OS (Windows) and then create your VM. You can specify either a fixed disk which will allocate part of your physical hard disk to store the VM or you can specify a dynamic disk which will grow as you install programs in your VM. Also it itsn't necessary to install from a flash drive. In your VM's settings tab look at Storage. I add a virtual CdRom and mount the ISO image I want to install from, then save my config and start my VM. You can test live images in that manner or install to your VM's hard disk. Remember to remove the ISO image from the virtual CdRom after the installation.
