today Oracle released VirtualBox 5.1.24, a maintenance release of
VirtualBox 5.1 which improves stability and fixes regressions.
Anybody else noticed some kind of memory leak with this version? Every
guest I start up immediately starts eating all 32GB of RAM on my server
and then starts eating the swap space.
This is currently being discussed on the forums[1]. You might want to
add something there (like more information about your configuration
along with a machine log file, since we have not yet reproduced this
ourselves).
For the list, it appears the issue is not limited to any particular OS,
complaints have been seen for Windows, Linux & Solaris. I'm running
Fedora 26 as the host in my case. The only common thing I've noticed is
that it appears to be related to running guests headless which is also
what I'm doing. On my other F26 box where I don't run guests headless I
see no issue.
I suspect it's related to an audio fix in 5.1.24 but I'll do some
testing and post in the forum.
