Removing virtualbox 6.1.6 and then installing 6.1.4 and the 6.1.4 extension
pack worked for me.

also try switching from Xwayland to Xorg for the guest. AT least I have a
couple
of working guests all running Xorg while the failing ones are with
Xwayland.

I'm also fighting this bug for several weeks [1] seems the problem is
when Vbox force to use VMSVGA , the "old" VBoxSVGA still working well
but is not easy to set [2].
Anyway I'm wondering if is not vboxvideo kmod that came in kernels
nowadays, versus kmod source that is bundle with VirtualBox sources ,
because I see messages like rc=VERR_INVALID_FUNCTION
