Thanks for your suggestion. I tried disabling ethernet power saving on
both the host and the guest, but the problem still occurs. Like you
said, it was a long shot since there is always quite a bit of traffic
via the network interface, and it never goes idle, and therefore
should never go into power saving mode. Indeed, just the opposite, the
problem seems to occur more frequently with more network traffic.
