I suggest you don't wipe. Better yet, find the location where you placed
the guest additions installer and do:

sudo sh /media/VBOXADDITIONS_build_number/VBoxLinuxAdditions.run uninstall

At least that's how I did uninstalks back in the day (vox 4.x)
