I have noticed I don’t seem to be able to use the VBox GUI to move a VM out of
a group (ie folder).

I have some VMS that got created in folders. Later I decided that I want them
at the top level. This means moving the VM folder out of the group-name folder
and into the VirtualBox folder.

When it comes to moving a VM from the top level into a group, dragging and
dropping using the GUI works OK. However, when I try it the other way,
dragging out of the group and into the top level I get an error

 “

Failed to save the settings of the virtual machine 'W10 32 abcd 1' to
'E:\VirtualBox\New group 2\W10 32 abcd 1\W10 32 abcd 1.vbox'.

Could not rename the directory 'E:\VirtualBox\New group 2\W10 32 abcd 1' to
'E:\VirtualBox\W10 32 abcd 1' to save the settings file (VERR_ALREADY_EXISTS).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: SessionMachine
Interface:      IMachine {85632c68-b5bb-4316-a900-5eb28d3413df}
”.

It seems to have got as far as moving the virtual HD file (.vdi) into a folder
at the top level, which does involve creating a new folder, but then doesn't
move the vm params (.vbox etc)

Is this a real bug that I should report?
Is there another way I can do this? (Apart from moving actual folders and
editing VirtualBox.xml)

Regards,
Richard.
