Hi,

I am currently evaluating a number of virtualization solutions (from here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_virtual_machines).

I would like to build a system that allows me to use windows as a desktop
solution (preferably "natively" and not over RDP, though I can live with
that if need be), and run Linux guest VMs. In one of those VM's I would
like to run a MythTV backend, making use of some PCI capture cards.

Xen looks promising, but reading the mailing list archives leaves me
thinking I will be doing a lot of trial and error to get it working.
Additionally, running Windows in Xen requires HVM, which then precludes a
lot of other functionality (like USB support I believe).

Colinix looks interesting also, but I don't get a good feeling of
stability (also, no graphical adapter).

KVM might work, but looks fairly new. I haven't found a lot of
information on how Windows guests perform.

Will VirtualBox support PCI hardware in a guest vm? Any other
comments/thoughts are appreciated.

Lastly, why is Vista not a supported host OS?

Thanks!
Larry Matter
