I thought I had all this solved:
lsmod | grep vbox
vboxdrv 29988 0
ls -l /dev/vboxdrv
crw-rw-r-- 1 root vboxusers 10, 0 2007-01-30 14:11 /dev/vboxdrv
Looks loaded to me.
