My 64-bit platform is a dual-core Conroe (2x1.86GHz E6300) -- I have a
custom 2.6.20-rc7 SMP x86_64 kernel.

I filched the patches from your .src.rpm and it seems to work from a
quick test--the error I was previously getting isn't coming up any
more and the CD-ROM ISO that I have passes a quick boot test.

I will test this more in-depth with an existing disk image that I
have--as soon as the 2GB file copies over to this machine...
