Hi,
we do have plans to provide 3D hardware acceleration in VMs. However,
this is rather difficult and also a lot of work. It would have to
support both Direct3D (Guest + Host) and OpenGL (Guest + Host) with
conversion between the two. We are currently in the research state and
looking for the best solution. Some contribution from the community
would be highly appreciated! We are also considering offering 3D
virtualization as a topic for a master thesis.
>From what I know, our 2D graphics performance is superior to VMware and
the other products. However, if a benchmarks also runs 3D tests, then we
will of course show rather bad results as it's all emulated in software
right now.
