Michael,

You have to have kernel-source, kernel-syms, xerces and xalan on the guest.
Then mount the guest additions and copy to some writable directory before
installing. They installed fine for me on OSS 10.2.

Some days ago I downloaded VirtualBox-1.3.8_openSuSE102-2.i586.rpm.run
installed it and created a virtual machine with Windows XP. Win XP starts and
it works. The usb-access failed but I read that this is due to implementation
of usb access in OSS 10.2. Therefore I didn't try. What I tried was to
install the Guest Additions but I found that none of the modules could be
loaded. Even more, after reboot I found myself in runlevel 3. There was no
xorg.conf any more. In the mailing-list archive I found that this occurs
when /tmp has it's own partition. Well, as there is no routine to uninstall
all guest additions I reinstalled them with
the option kernel-modules in order to reduce the number of failed modules.
Now at boot-time remains the failed vboxadd module:
Starting VirtualBox Additions
FATAL: Error inserting vboxadd
(/lib/modules/2.6.18.8-0.1-default/misc/vboxadd.ko): No such device
failed
dmesg says:
vboxadd: initializing. Version 0.5
vboxadd: VirtualBox PCI device not found.

What can I do to fix this and load this the other modules in order to use the
guest addtions. And if this is not possible: How can I uninstall cleanly the
vboxadd module?
Thanks in advance!
Michael
