Hi Paul.
I had this same problem.  Bug ticket #135. You have to edit your
xorg.conf file. Comment out the line, (inputdevice "mouse2"
"sendcoreevents") in the Serverlayout section. 
Mouse will work when booting with the Linux safe settings option on
boot menu. Then you can edit the file.
