NAT does not support ping and other types of packets.
I am almost 100% that Windows tries to ping the domain controller and waits for 
replies that never come.
Try with bridged networking to confirm or deny this.

I'm sorry, I've forgotten to say that it's connected via "NAT".

Furthermore, I've also forgotten to say, that it doesn't make a difference 
whether the VirtualBox guest additions for Windows are installed or not.
