This sounds correct, but it's hard to say for sure from such a short description. Network configs are always a biteasier to get slightly wrong than completely correct.
You only need to configure the IP info of the bridge with what previously was the config of the host. The real network card (and the VBOX Host Interface" virtual network card) need not be configured. If everything works correctly, you should be able to ping everything, and assuming you have a DHCP server on your LAN you should even be able to let the guest use DHCP. Is the host working correctly?
