Once gets a few error messages in the /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup script--a 
udevinfo not found and some integer expresson expected. After that, thing 
proceed perfectly.

I am running Debian Sid and installing off the .deb.

There is no problem now until someone decides to make udev a dependency. This 
was just done with linux-sound-base package so I can no longer upgrade this. 
Udev rules for various sound devices are of course desirable but as I said, I 
can live without udev.
