Apparantly in 2008 the "kernel-source" package isn't suitable for
developmental work; the version information and config options don't match
what the running kernel uses.

It's the -devel packages that you need for third-party builds, and this
behaviour is different than 2007 and 2007.1.

It's what caused my initial problems, I'm pretty sure.
