Hi, did you create the usbfs group? are you a member of this group? Go over this link http://vbox.innotek.de/pipermail/vbox-users/2007- October/subject.html and read 'failed to access the usb subsystem'
        Hope this helps. Greetings

        Santi

I know that others have had problems and resolved them so I'm hoping that
someone can help me.

I've made changes to the fstab file and udev rules. When I start my virtual machine (guest OS, windows XP pro), I can see the devices, although they are
grayed out. Hovering my mouse over each entry reveals info. about the
devices but at the bottom of each it says that they are unavailable.

If I start up the virtual box as root user, then I can both see and access the
USB devices.

What am I missing? Please help I've been at it for hours literally and have tried just about everything. (I have set up a group "vboxusers" of which I am
a member)

Thanks
Eddie
