Don't know, but thanks for the suggestion will try that today.

 Just installed WinXP on the same machine and works fine, and tried the 
seamless mode which is fantastic. If one puts the winxp toolbar up the top of 
WinXP, then in seamless mode it also sits up the top of your linux box like a 
native toolbar (including disappearing if auto-hide is set in windows). 
Fabulous. (if you want to run windows programs that is I guess, though most 
of what I do is in linux).
