Thanks all. I read the manual and was able to slog through getting bridging set up under Ubuntu. (It should be a lot easier...)
My WinXP as guest OS now works fine under Vbox 1.5.2 running on Ubuntu 7.10 NAT did not work with WinXP for whatever reasons, at least for me.
