I face the same problem (with a linux guest on a winxp host). Sometimes
it works, but it is not reliably and give me a lot of problem (like to
make my USB wireless card and/or my usb mouse not functional). I suspect
it is a conflict with Windows that also try to access the USB device.
However, there is in this case a workaround. Most probably the stick is
seen as disk number 1 in Windows XP. So you attach a hard drive to the
guest which correspond to this usb stick and disable completely USB
support (see p. 105 of the manual, version 1.5.2).
