Hi,

Quick update: Upgraded to VirtualBox 1.5.4 (uninst. & fresh install), still
same problem.

I found problem with bug tickets though: It let me create a username with a
space in it. I deleted and recreated "Mike P" as "MikeP" and it now lets me
create a bug ticket. So I'll reproduce this in a clean environment and
submit a bug ticket.

Happy New Year,

Mike

Subject: [vbox-users] USB Audio fails in win host+guest combo / cannot open
bug ticket

Hi,

USB Audio devices don't work in windows guests on a windows host. I connect
the USB device (Plantronics headset) and see the USB activity light flashing
when there should be sound, but nothing heard. Bizarrely I can use the
volume control on the headset which moves the volume slider in the guest, so
communication is definitively happening.

My host is Vista x64, tried both Win XP and Vista guests with no success.

I have found a couple of references in the forums and this mailing list
that this can be made to work on Linux hosts with some tweaking, but others
have the same problem on win hosts.

Seeing as there was no response on the forums other than more people with
the same problem I tried to create a bug ticket, but got told that
"TICKET_CREATE privileges are required to perform this operation", so here I
am on the mailing list.

My vbox.log at the point in time where I enabled my USB device:
