My experince with Ubunto 7.10 Gues, Vbox 1.52, and XP Home as Guest was that NAT did not work, but bridging did work.
setting up bridging is a bit of hassle on the Linux side. Read the Vbox manuall. I tried bridging without making that time investment butit did not work until I read the fine print. However... others claim that NAT does work with XP as guest. oh well.
