Having VBoxTAP driver problems:

I have build virtualbox ver. 1.5.4 on a: "Windows XP professional Version
2002" Service pack 2.
_Problem_
It seems like I'm unable to install the VBoxTAP driver for creating virtual
network interface. I have built virtualBox and followed the instructions:

comregister.cmd
SUPUninstall // outputs: uninstallation failed. rc=-1
SUPInstall // outputs: installation failed. rc=-1
-----------------
Note: I made sure that VBoxSVC.exe was not running.
I think the problem must be related to the SUPUninstall and SUPInstall
commands.
Can anyone please help with this problem?
Here is what happens when I try to create a virtual NIC:

It seems like most other vitals are working I can create virtual drives,
virtual machines and query them afterwards:
