I have the same symptoms except that "brctl show" indicates the 
interface is attaced to the bridge...

$ brctl show
bridge name     bridge id                         STP enabled     interfaces
br0                     8000.0013729e9ac6       no                      eth0
                      
                                                                       tap0

So, we wait for a fix from VBox? Can I add to your bug report?
