Hello Paul, A somewhat belated answer - it turns out that parallel support in VirtualBox has not actually been tested apart from with a trivial test device, and will probably not work with real hardware until a customer needs it, or someone from the community fixes it (shouldn't be very hard). That is of course why it is not documented anywhere.
