I've run debian 64 lenny with 2.6.25.10 on Asus P5K-pro and intel Q9300, instal and run XPsp2,sp3 win2003,NT4server,NT4WS, win98, various linux distro Works all on vmwareworstation 6.0.4 and VirtualBox 1.6.2 without problem.
Did you enable CPU virtualization in guest? try to disable it.
