You are right, current versions of VirtualBox don't support SCSI emulation. This shouldn't be a big problem for Linux guests which usually can be adapted to a different host adapter. However, a Windows guest which depends on a SCSI adapter will be unbootable. There is currently work-in-progress in implementing a SCSI device emulation. Kind regards, Frank -- Dr.-Ing.
