Discarding a snapshot does just that: zaps one particular state, without affecting other states. It means that all other snapshots as well as the current machine state will remain intact. Technically (your assumption is correct), this is achieved by combining (merging) delta (differencing) VDIs of the snapshot being discarded with the VDIs of its parent snapshot to preserve the consistency of the VDI chain. -- Regards, Dmitry A.
