Please check if your guest additions are installed correctly,
that is, the small VBox icon in the systray should show you
the version of VirtualBox. Then make sure that you assigned
8MB video RAM to the guest.

Finally have a look at section 9.12 of the user manual. The
available video modes are usually limited by the host to ensure
that the default video mode does not exceed the size of the
host screen. You should be able to drag the VM window border
and increase the window up to your needs. Or you could change
the settings as described in section 9.12.
