I'm running Vbox 1.6.6 happily on Mandriva 2008.0 (having tried
V2.0.2 but suffered instability so reverted to 1.6.6).

Trying out Mandriva 2009.0, I wanted to use the same Windows XP guest
on 2009.0, so copied the whole .Virtualbox directory over to 2009.0.

I also had then to do the following:

     - Install VBox from Vbox web site (not the 'OEM' version)

     - Copy the <sharedfolders> tag over into 2009.0 control file
           from/to
        .Virtualbox/Machines/Windows XP SP3/Windows SP SP3.xml
then change the disk addressing in there to that used by 2009.0

     - Install the devel-kernel matching 2009.0's kernel (uname -a)

     - Change the CD/DVD address from 'hdc' to 'sr1' or whatever

It then appeared to work well EXCEPT that it will not handle USB
sticks - which it happily does on 2008.0.
The USB filters are still there in Settings, and when a USB stick is
plugged in its info does appear under Devices/USB, but *greyed out*.
All other USB devices appear there, not greyed out, and work.

What might be causing it to refuse to handle USB sticks?
