Ar, seems to be ok now after adjusting his RAM to 512 MB. Unfortunately, he did indeed accept the default settings when creating the VM. Due to his lack of computer knowledge compared to me anyway, he wouldn't have had a clue what he was doing if I asked him to turn ACPI on.
