In my humble opinion, giving incorrect, or useless advice is worst
than giving no advice at all; it's like telling someone whose house is on
fire to grab a water bottle.

Another suggestion to the original question would be to try
unregistering the dvd image by using the filename, including the full
path. This worked for me on a windows host, even after the existing
iso was gone.
