My New Year problem is with trying to install V'Box on a 64-bit Mandriva 2008.0 laptop.
According to: http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-virtualbox-2.0-on-mandriva-2009.0 (and assuming the '2009' instructions would work on a 2008.0 installation) - I needed to install from: VirtualBox-2.1.0-41146-Linux_amd64.run, but executing that fails as follows: --------------------------------------------- Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing VirtualBox for Linux installation......... VirtualBox Version 2.1.0 (2008-12-17T10:22:08Z) installer Please install the build and header files for your current Linux kernel <===== The current kernel version is 2.6.22.19-laptop-2mdv Problems were found which would prevent VirtualBox from installing. Please correct these problems and try again. ----------------------------------------------- Although I have done the following to set up the missing files (re-try shows they are installed): urpmi --wget kernel-desktop-devel-latest --auto Package kernel-desktop-devel-latest-2.6.22.19-2mdv2008.0.x86_64 is already installed urpmi --wget kernel-headers --auto Package glibc-devel-2.6.1-4.1mdv2008.0.x86_64 is already installed the .run file still complains as before. Anyone know what the missing steps are, please? -- /\/\aurice (Retired in Surrey, UK) _______________________________________________ vbox-users mailing list [email protected] http://vbox.innotek.de/mailman/listinfo/vbox-users
