I can imagine that if any of those things were wrong, I wouldn't be
able to write the disk at all.  But that's not the issue.  The disk
writes, but the video is terrible.  I assume it's because it's not being
written fast enough or something like that.  I thought passthrough would
help with that, but it hasn't made any difference.

Is there a way to verify that passthrough is actually working and is
actually being used?
