I tried a little bit more. When I delete the "vga=0x317" from the
menu.lst I am able to see what happens when the machine gets started.

Even with the failsafe entry somehow I run into a kernel panic:

I do not know what is going on there.

Maybe ACK. Although it is triggered by some VB-related stuff, maybe low
memory or similar.

I do not know why the OS should run into a kernel panic. Maybe someone
knows...
