You are exactly on the Problem i had.
After taking Snapshots, the .vdi are split to Main-Directory and
Snapshot Directory, but to get the .vdi of the currently running
Machine, it might be necessary to glue together something (i do not
know, by now).
Thats what i have:

If i clone the WinXPpro.vdi i do not get the last State of 23.Jan
which i would expect. Once i tried to clone a File vom Snapshots, but
this did not work - or i did make an Error.
I would help me, if i could export a working .vdi File for each Point
of State or Snapshot...
