I am running VirtualBox 2.2.0 on Windows XP SP3 with a Ubuntu 8.10 guest plus Guest Additions. It is all working fine.

However, today I downloaded the Windows installer of VB 2.2.2 to upgrade. The installer hung after running for about 20 minutes so I was forced to reboot the computer.

After the computer came up the installer returned an error message that it could not remove the 2.2.0 version. Add/Remove Programs could not remove it either.

Funny thing is the VirtualBox 2.2.0 still launches and I am able to start Ubuntu, although I get a warning about USB devices.

Can anyone with greater knowledge of Windows XP than I have tell me how to get rid of 2.2.0 so I can install 2.2.2, hopefully without blowing away any virtual machines and other configuration files?

Regards,
Hedley
