Hello all.

I just installed virtualbox on debian, since I've only used the
windows version until now, and wanted to see what virtualbox is like
on a GNU/Linux host.

I noticed that vbox depends on some x11 libraries, and this got me
wondering. While I understand the need for the x11 libraries, and the
qt libraries, since most users would probably be using the GUI, I
couldn't help wondering about the need for x11 for those who plan to
connect to a guest via ssh or vrdp. I myself have X installed here, so
it really doesn't make a difference for me, but I've seen comments on
another list from a couple of people who might be interested in trying
out virtualbox, but don't want to do so, because they don't have an X
environment installed, and they don't plan to install it, just to try
out 1 piece of software. I also seem to recall a post on this list a
long time ago from someone saying that virtualbox shouldn't have to
depend on X, and I believe someone at Innotek back then had responded
that the X dependencies would be removed, though my memory could be
wrong here. Can someone shed some light on this? Is it in fact
possible to install virtualbox without x11 and qt libraries, at least
from source using the ose version, if not from a binary package?
Thanks.

Greg
