Thanks for reporting.

Good morning everybody,

I setup a machine with Windows 7 RC as guest, running openSUSE 11.1 with
VB 2.2.2-OSE as host. I configured a "Intel PRO/1000 Desktop"-Network
Card with NAT, and "unplugged" the cable during installation.

After that, when logged in as Admin, I told VB to plug in the cable by
right-clicking the litte icon in the status bar in the bottom of the
VM-Window.

I thought that the Guest would notice that a cable got plugged in, and
the network connection would be built up. But nothing happens.

Only rebooting changed the status of the network connection from
"disconnected" to "connected".

Bug? Feature? My fault? Any hints would be appreciated.

Right it's a bug and it's definitely not your fault. Current implementation is lack of host's adapter/address change detection (please see http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/3847) , that enforce user to restart guest.
Regards,
OJ
