Only physical RAM is possible at the moment. Note that VirtualBox allocates guest RAM on demand and once granted to a guest, the RAM cannot be revoked until the VM process terminates. Therefore you cannot start VMs which require in summary more than your host RAM. Actually you need to keep some RAM available for you host system (host kernel, host desktop environment, ...).
